Blockchain strategy and development start-up Zeonlab announced the public launch of Verified on Chain (VOC), India’s first blockchain-backed academic certification management service (CMS).

Verified on Chain is targeted at universities, institutes of higher education and e-learning companies and the service enables verification of student certificates or transcripts on Blockchain. Last month, Kolkata-based Globsyn Business School became the first academic institution in India to use Blockchain Technology to digitise its certification process, using technology from Zeonlab.

Chinmaya Sharma, co-founder at Zeonlab, said: “The core promise of Verified on Chain (VoC) is a trust network of Blockchain-verified academic certificates for universities and employers. VoC enables universities to easily manage all certification requirements without having to invest in a team and infrastructure just to handle certificate issue or reissue. For employers, the ability to see a candidate’s verified certificates on Blockchain means they do not have to ask to see ‘original’ certificates.”

Zeonlab offers Verified on Chain as a SaaS product to academic institutes with multiple pricing plans relevant to batch size. VoC does not require any tech expertise or on-premise infrastructure; and can be managed by a single employee on an ongoing basis.

Once a university has verified its students’ certificates using VOC, it can invite employers to view these certificates both during and after campus placements. Once the certificates have been uploaded and verified, students are given a unique address to share their verified credentials with prospective employers.

The VoC service also enables safe and permanent storage of alumni records off Blockchain, which allows profile and contact information to be updated on a need basis.
