Putting the Art into Artificial Intelligence

Huawei Innovation Day and Eco-Connect Europe 2018 in Rome shine a spotlight on the link between art and science

Huawei sets the agenda linking technology and thought leadership in Europe. There is a host of exciting new announcements at the dedicated events in Rome. On 7 November, the Huawei European Innovation Day explores the role of art in innovation. On 8 and 9 November, Huawei Eco-Connect Europe focuses on our intelligent future.

With 2019 marking the 500th anniversary of the passing away of Leonardo da Vinci, this year’s Innovation Day event covers the close interdependence between art, science and technology. The event brings together leading artists, famous scientists, young scholars and features keynotes by Howard Liang, chairman of the Huawei Board, Erdal Arıkan, inventor of Polar Code for 5G, and Éric Moulines, member of the French Académie des sciences.

Eco-Connect Europe addresses how Europe can best reap the benefits of digitalisation and rapid progress in fields such as AI, drawing on its rich expertise and its strong track record. The event also features an exhibition hall showcasing the latest in digital technologies ranging from IoT and Cloud to interactive animations including real-time posture recognition, Augmented Reality painting and an e-sports area.

Key announcements include:
* A study on global innovation networks featuring original research for The Economist Intelligence Unit.

* A Huawei hosting centre speeding up IoT development across Europe.

* Fresh investment in Huawei’s network of European OpenLabs.

* New, smart city partnerships.
