Ipswitch to Expand Cloud Managed File Transfer Services Hosted on Microsoft Azure in Europe

Available in April, Ipswitch extends MOVEit cloud managed file transfer (MFT) services to Europe

Cloud Computing

Ipswitch announced plans to launch MOVEit Cloud Managed File Transfer (MFT) on Microsoft Azure in the European Union (EU).

This comes as a direct result of customers requesting Ipswitch to offer the successful MOVEit Cloud SaaS (Software as a Service) solution in Europe, which gives them the dual benefit of an OPEX procurement model and accelerating their GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) readiness when they need a solution to exchange data and files that may contain personal data.

“The enforcement of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in May 2018 has placed an emphasis on companies having an EU-based datacenter presence to comply with the regulation, which places an emphasis on where personally identifiable data can be processed and stored,” said Penny Jones, Research director, MTDC and Services, EMEA at 451 Research.

“Ipswitch’s investment means it can keep the data of European customers local, instead of re-routing it through datacenters in the U.S. This means that Ipswitch, and its customers, can ensure data security, sovereignty and privacy for customers amid these new stringent regulations.”

Because of the data security safeguards built into MOVEit, Ipswitch is seeing increased confidence in cloud-based file transfer systems to move files that include personal data. This expands Ipswitch’s ongoing commitment to providing its customers with global business continuity, including high availability, disaster recovery and backup.
