Koushik Radhakrishnan from DXC Technology can be seen beaming with excitement as he prepares his Asia organization to pivot and place DXC Technology into a hyper-growth mode in the Asia region.

CSC and the Enterprise Services segment of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) were strategically merged to form DXC Technology to exploit synergies and create a global IT services leader. Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) always make big news in the technology world due to the impact they have on clients, partners, shareholders, and employees. It is a long process to plan the merger and then execute on a multi-year roadmap. Koushik Radhakrishnan from DXC Technology can be seen beaming with excitement as he prepares his Asia organization to pivot and place DXC Technology into a hyper-growth mode in the Asia region. DXC Technology global revenue stood at 24.5 $ bn at the close of FY2018 in March 2018, the first fiscal year since the brand debut. DXC Technology generated $2.6 bn net cash from its global operations at the close of the first fiscal year. Not just that but the company also returned $311 mn to shareholders in the form of dividends and share repurchases. When asked about the services portfolio rationalization and consolidation, Koushik said, “we have 9 service offering families subsequent to the post-merger streamlining. We have a digital generation service delivery model which we call DXC Bionix” He went on to add that “DXC Bionix is not only helping us serve our customers better and faster but also helped us bring down the total cost of service delivery through continuous optimization of our delivery operations with automation, analytics, AI and lean approaches. Platform DXC powers the delivery model of DXC Bionix and allows us to do digital transformation at scale.” Koushik laid down the unique value proposition of DXC Technology “our advantage is that we know the backoffice very well plus our Technology agnostic service delivery model Bionix makes us unique in the market.”

Scaling Digital Transformation

William Gibson famously said ‘the future is already here. Its just that its not evenly distributed.” The same applies to the adoption of Digital Transformation. A good number of large Enterprises know what they need to do in Digital transformation after the pilot project. The next challenge that Business Decision Makers (BDMs) face is to scale the digital transformation across the Enterprise. Koushik added “DXC Technology is a front office and back office integrated digital transformation player. We are technology agnostic and acquisitions like Luxsoft and our vast outsourcing experience and Intellectual Property helps us understand the back office very well.” According to him, DXC Technology has a unique ability to scale digital transformations. He said, “we can do digital transformation at scale because we know the back office very well.”

Solution Centric Approach

IT services companies, in general, find it hard to develop Intellectual property as their core task is to deliver IT services. When asked about product vs services dichotomy Koushik said “we have well known and widely adopted intellectual property within the global insurance, healthcare, travel, and automotive industry. But its also true that a customer is always looking for a solution to his problem. And a solution is a combination of IP and IT services. We do create IP but we bring solutions to the market through our delivery model.”

Reimagining Old Business Models

Consumer companies are known for localizing their product catalogs. This not only means customizing product features for the local market but also offering local pricing. When asked about price elasticity, consumerization and localization of Enterprise IT Koushik said “it’s a business model question for our partners. In our case, DXC Technology is a merger of two old economy companies leading to a totally reimagined service delivery platform for the digital age. We have simplified a lot of things as we innovated our business model with DXC Bionic and Platform DXC.”

Generalists Vs Specialists

Its not just the Enterprises that are finding it difficult to catch the pace of digital innovation. Even IT services companies and ISVs are finding it difficult to develop new competencies, retain and hire talent. The challenge is bringing evolving and new technologies together given the vast number of options that are available. When asked about how to solve this problem of many Koushik said, "generalists design the solution, specialists deliver the solution. The ratio of generalists to specialists is 50:50 within my organization."
